For 20 years I have had an interest in Merles in particular due to their rare nature. In 2005 I switched my focus completely over to Merle Pit Bulls in response to protecting their historical lineage that began to be diminished for political and bias reasons. I will not stand to see individuals re-write history simply because they do not like the Merle. Diversity is what makes the breed great. At one time the Old Family Red Nose was under this same kind of attack and was only saved by a handful of true enthusiasts. A true enthusiast will defend all Pit Bulls and work to pull the community together. I believe you can tell when someone is a true enthusiast vs. acting out of selfish motives based on their attitude they take toward all variations of the breed and how they treat other individuals within the community.
